Overview of the Sol Alliance

The rapidly changing circumstances of the Ross 47 conflict culminated with the merger of the Prodono Android forces of Central Control, and that of the Orion Theocratic Republic. This new stellar alliance was the Galactic Free Republic. It's might rivaled any individual power within the Local Group of Stars (all stars within 20 light-years of Sol). Almost simultaneously, the Planetary Alliance government was thrown into chaos by the assasination of Venusian President Cecil Cohen by agents unknown. His death was blamed on the Orion Theocratic Republic and so the Jovian Defense Forces who were friendly towards the Orions found itself in a quagmire. The Jovian Prime Minister and President were known pesonal friends of the military commanders of the Orion forces operating within the Local Group of Stars. Allegations of treason, conspiracy, and the like flooded the airwaves of the digital-cosmos of the Planetary Alliance. However, the events of March 16th, AD 2193 solidified the creation of a new political body. The Galactic Free Republic executed a rescue mission of President April Maye and Prime Minister John McGovern near the dwarf-star Tyche in the Sol system. This rescue operation consisted of the Goro Duragal and an armada of Prodono Android warships. The gesture of military might was not lost on the Planetary Alliance council, and on March 21st AD 2193, President Alicia Aquitaine of the Planetary Alliance--and Vice President of the Venusian Consortium--announced the merger of the Planetary Alliance with the Tartarian Technocracy to form the Sol Alliance.
The first act of the Sol Alliance was to combine their space navy forces. The Earth Federal Republic was given the plans to the Tartarian Technocracy's advanced warship designs of the 2191 to 2194 period which they began producing as fast as they could. While these vessels were based on the Tartarian designs, they were not exact copies of them but nearly the identical. Class names were kept the same to prevent confusion between the two stellar nations, but the differences in the ships were obvious for anyone familiar with both fleets of vessels. These differences were in interior door design, lighting, crew quarters accomodations, and other minor details. The existing fleet of the 2185 to 2192 time period was still in service with the Sol Alliance. The entirety of the older Planetary Alliance fleet was primarily comprised of the pre-Outer Sphere War fleet and relegated to Stellar Guard duties as these craft were deemed too obsolete for frontline military service.
The Ross 47 situation exposed the deficiencies of the Planetary Alliance army of MBR-01 and MBR-02 battlerobots, as well as their space battle robot counterparts. The VBR Type-81 variable battle robot was put to the test in the Ross 47 conflict. While it failed miserably in space combat contests with the Hai Richon battlesuits of Doctor Adrianne Donaldson's Cosmo Dragoons, it performed far better than the older battle robot designs in planetary combat operations. The failure of the MBR-01 models (mostly MBR-01C at that time), and MBR-02 was turned into an opportunity for the new Sol Alliance to produce a new Protean variable fighter for space combat operations. The Tartarian Protean designs were all obsolete by the time of the Ross 47 conflict. While they did perform admirably, the Planetary Alliance didn't want to produce them. Instead they chose to create their own type of Protean mecha that would suit their needs. This new fighter was the PA-100.
The situation after the Ross 47 conflict had concluded overflowed into the 2nd Interplanetary War almost immediatley afterwards. The 2nd Interplanetary War covered the total area of the Local Group of Stars. As the conflaguration escalated, the Sol Alliance had to draw from the fleets of their colonies throughout that expanse. Doctor Donaldson had deployed all of her Tartarian-built android controlled fleets in a variety of fleets comprised of Prodono Federation era spacecraft and mecha. Even though these Cosmo Dragoon fleets were little more than a distraction, they still posed a very real threat to the colony worlds of the Sol Alliance.
