Description/Overview:
          The Ross 47 conflict exposed the shortcomings of the Prodono Federation and Republic Newel-Xergis class ships against the Tartarian Technocracy fleet. While the SLV drive of the Prodono Federation era Newel-Xergis class was adequate in terms of time-dilation, both Central Control's Prodono Android team at the Chi Orionis Goro Dei and the Neo-Hebrew forces at the Goro Duragal on the Moon of Good Hope agreed a faster warp speed was needed. At first the use of the Prodono Republic era hyperspace fold system was suggested, in spite of its vastly superior space-time dilation of 10 light-years per hour, the crews of such ships were not able to work on them in the field. The lack of understanding of how the systems were built, made repair of them outside of a Prodono Republic shipyard like a Goro Dei, impossible. Thus, by the outbreak of the 2nd Interplanetary War the military planners of the newly formed Galactic Free Republic determined that a Newel-Xergis-type vessel, built from scratch, would be better than putting resources towards fleets of Prodono Federation or Republic era spacecraft. The first of these new vessels was the Galaxy class battlecarrier.
          The Galaxy Class battlecarrier was armed with electron-element turrets, Kaon beam cannon turrets, heavy anti-ship Ion cruise missile tubes, anti-mecha beam cannon point-defense turrets, Buster missile launchers, and a Prodono Empire style electromagnetic particle beam cannon maw gun. This arsenal of weapons made the Galaxy class more heavily armed than even the Prodono Imperial Newel-Xergis class. The electron-element force field of the Galaxy class was more powerful than the deflector shield array of the Imperial era Newel-Xergis class. Only the drive systems of the Prodono Imperial era warship were superior. However, the battlefield of the 2nd Interplanetary War was, for the most part, star systems within 20 light-years of Sol so this shortcoming of the Galaxy class was not egregious.
