HANGAR BAY:
             1x 4200-yd³ Bay holds different compliments of Prodono mecha depending on the mission and/or which group if being deployed. Normally twelve Nymar Type-20016 or newer Armored Ground Assault Robots are used (stored in a crouched position until deployed: ten foot high when crouched) in the bulk of a drop missions, while a few K'hor Kai ships will store eight Jould Type-20021 Heavy Armored Ground Assault Robots as artillery/special operations units.  Additionally, K'hor Kai type ships may contain 28 Hai Richon battlesuits, normally sent in the first wave of dropships to secure a landing zone for the Prodono AGARs and HAGAR units that will arrive in subsequent drops.

Description/Overview:

 The K’hor Kai Type-KK17695 dropship was built back in the pre-Prodono Republic days during the Consortium of Planets (Prodono Alliance) which existed prior to 2.0000 GS (300,000 BC Earth Relative).  According to Doctor Xiang’s findings, the K’hor Kai was actually an old space exploration cruiser of the Prodono that was converted into a dropship sometime around 1.7695 GS (323,050 BC Earth Relative).  Xiang postulated that this spacecraft underwent numerous modifications during that long period before the creation of the 1st Prodono Republic, but the designation was never changed.  Thus, only minor notations of improvements were provided in the event older versions of the K’hor Kai were encountered and required refit to the current version for the time that the battlefactory at Alpha Centauri had been built (approximately 2.5000 GS or 250,000 BC Earth Relative).  The K’hor Kai Type-KK17695 did not have a predecessor and was a staple of the Prodono armed forces.  The K'hor Kai Type-KK17695 was revered to such a degree that it was one of the most widely produced machines of the 1st Prodono Republic period.
         The K’hor Kai used an Obuch-Ron Type-18001-5500 5500-megawatt fusion reactor to provide for its power-hungry electromagnetic drives and the other systems of the vessel.  This reactor was not the first one fitted to this craft, but was the current power source being used on the K’hor Kai dropships found on the battlefactory.
         According to Doctor Xiang’s notes, the Type-KK17695 was originally armed with six PHELAC ball turrets and two fusion torpedo launchers when it was a cruiser.  However, the Prodono removed these weapons when the vessel was converted over to a dropship to make space for the large complement of combat walkers that the new dropship was expected to transport.
         Originally the K’hor Kai was fitted with either a tandem (2) or a dual tandem (4) configuration of externally mounted stellar warp drive engines (which is where the UNSC got the design plans for their first SWDs) as its main propulsion system for FTL travel.  Xiang deciphered detailed information on the internal schemata of these engines and how to remove them (because they were obsolete by 2.0000 GS) in order to remodel the Type-KK17695 for use as a dropship.
         The K’hor Kai originally mounted a four-pack of ion engines as its main sublight propulsion units.  These engines were removed from the craft completely and the rear of the vessel totally rebuilt to conform to the saucer shape required for quick and efficient planetary reentry operations.  In place of these two propulsion system types, eight Vrlek-Uph-Kai VUK-262-Type-17440 262.5-megawatt electromagnetic drives were fitted to the underside of the vessel in eight dome-like structures.  This modification was first introduced in the year 1.7440 GS (325,600 BC Earth Relative) when the Prodono Consortium of Planets (Prodono Alliance) first began converting their existing fleet of K’hor Kai patrol cruisers over to dropship types in large quantities.
         The cargo bay and hangar volume of the K’hor Kai dropship was much larger than the original patrol/exploration cruiser. The four large heavy doors and three of the bays were new additions to the ship.  Only the 1200-cubic-yard hangar was original,  and even that had a new door system installed which folded open to form a ramp that allowed combat walkers to go to and from the inside of the vessel.
