Description/Overview:
The PF-87G "Junker" Protean Aerospace Fighter was little more than a copy of the Neo-Hebrew PF-04U CosmoCorsair. The Tartarian Technocracy knew they needed a ground attack fighter for planetary assault operations. They didn't want to use a dropship, so a Protean fighter was the best solution. Unlike the CosmoCorsair, the PF-87G was not designed with interplanetary engines, instead it used only planetary and surface-to-orbit capable ion drives allowing it to land on an Earth-like planet with comparible gravity, and then escape the gravity-well to acheive orbit for pickup from a larger spacecraft. The weapons of the PF-87G were all geared towards ground assault and were not very useful for space combat. As a result, these Protean Fighters only saw action on the Moon of Good Hope where they were badly outclassed by the PS-01-AUS-01 Armored Protean Fighters of the Neo-Hebrews. The Tartarian Technocracy used the PF-87G during the Ross 47 conflict and 2nd Interplanetary War despite its short comings.
