Overview of the Union of Sovereign Solar Republics


                  The collapse of the Colonial Confederacy due to the Outer Sphere War between the Pluto Republic and the Union of Solar Republics caused a schism in the Outer Sphere colonies (Neo-Hebrews of Saturn, Uranus Theocratic Republic, Neptune Consortium, and Pluto Republic). The Outer Sphere War had caused the rift that tore the Colonial Confederacy apart. This meant the immediate choice for the Neptune Consortium and Uranus was to choose between joining the Planetary Alliance or the Neo-Hebrews of Saturns. The Pluto Republic however had negotiated a third option, that being the relocation of their populations to Alpha Centauri to help form a Alpha Centauri Protectorate government after the Pluto Republic had successfully defeated the Union of Solar Republics. The Uranus Theocratic Republic joined and quickly merged with the Neo-Hebrews of Saturn who were their natural allies for a variety of reasons. The Neptune Consortium however chose to maintain their allegiance to the Pluto Republic and left with them to the colonies of Alpha Centuari as per the treaties signed in 2188 to officially end the Outer Sphere War and finalize the ejection of all powers who were a threat to the Planetary Alliance. The formation of the newly minted Alpha Centauri Republic (Pluto Republic and Union of Solar Republics merger) and Neptune Consortium was the unofficial foundation of the Union of Sovereign Solar Republics. The event which officially created the USSR was when Charles Dalltan proposed an alliance of both his Principality of Altair and Alphonse Zhukov's Alkaid Republic. Prince Dalltan's reason for this alliance was due mostly to his own forces being horribly depleted in his war with the Prodono Android fleet during the Outer Sphere War. Additionally, Zhukov's new Republic had limited resources and a very small space navy in the late 2180s. Only the Pluto Republic (now the Alpha Centauri Republic) had the fleet to effectively prevent the Planetary Alliance and the newly forced Tartarian Technocracy from gaining control over the Local Group of Stars (all star systems within 50 light-years of Sol). The additon of the Prodono Android armada making itself the overseers of all of the Terran stellar nations was another pressure point that helped Dalltan push these powers into an alliance with each other and mutual defense pact.
                  While each of the governments of the Union of Sovereign Solar Republics remained autonomous, a new advisory council was created. This new council was not, as some initially assumed due to the acronym of USSR, a Soviet or Socialist style of government. It was, at the direction of Prince Dalltan and Lady Isabeau Furrier, an ancient Roman-style Republic with a senate comprised of Consuls, and Praetor elected by them. The alliance government of the USSR was not able to interfere in the internal affairs of any of its member states. Unlke the United Nations, European Union, or Planetary Alliance who wereintrusive central governments, the USSR's council was given sole authority of MUTUAL affairs. Specially those involving war, colonization disputes, and trade disputes between the member nations which were classified as Protectorates. In 2192, the fleet responsible for the defense of these Protectorates outside of their Capital star systems was the Alpha Centauri Protectorate fleet. That fleet was a fleet of Edric VonStalin's "Ironclad" style of warships. These craft were well armed and armored, and easily mass produced due to their interchangeability between their various classes. The variable mecha, both ground and aerospace, were also mass produced for use as the main military force of the USSR.
