DESCRIPTION:
            The Kyoto class was a major upgrade to the Kongo class of space battleship refit of the older Kurita class. The class was nearly identical to the older Kongo only it was increased in displacement by 50,000 tons to incorporate the new pair of heavy plasma drive engines, increased weapon loadout and quartet of Type-04 Intersection Drive units. All of these changes were deemed necessary to bring the Kongo class up to the standards of the new "Cosmo Cruiser" type space navy. All twelve of the existing Kongo class were refit to Kyoto class by 2192 and the Ross 47 conflict. Of those, four were destroyed in AD 2192 by Cosmo Dragoon and Neo-Hebrew forces. Leaving only eight of the original twelve left. Those eight did survive the 2nd Interplanetary War and were refit for the new Galaxy Exploration fleet of the Sol Alliance in the late 2190s.
