Overview of the United Nations Office Of Outer Space Affairs

         The United Nations Office of Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) was a hold over of the original United Nations of the 20th and 21st Centuries. That organization had been dissolved in the late 21st Century and replaced by the New UN during the 2110s. This New UN was not a "World Government" like the previous incarnation had attempted to be. Instead, it was organized as a Global Financial Exchange group used to ensure that world currencies maintained an equilibrium that would prevent worldwide economic collapse, starvation, resource disparity, poverty, and other perceived ills that were believed to be of an economic nature. War was supposed to be limited via financial action against aggressor states. As a result of these policies being abused, all manner of corruption, bribery, and blackmail occured until World War 4 erupted in the 2120s. This war caused the foundation of the LaGrange Colonies in 2135 AD. Their foundation created a financial stability in the form of new technologies that allowed the New UN to be reorganized into an international council similar to the old UN, but with new safeguards and a focus on space exploration and colonization of the Inner Sphere of the solar system.
          Initially, the old non-military versions of the LaGrange space fleet were part of the UNOOSA space fleet. While military operations were mostly dealt with via the General Atomics Saturn MARK-VII Space Cutters, the deep space exploration projects were done with the (for the time) largest ship built by mankind. That being the General Atomics Type-2140 Deep Space Probe Ship. It was one of these Type-2140s that were instrumental in the plans of the Council on Stellar Relations during the 2140s. Despite the outbreak of the Asian Pacific Conflict on Earth, this vessel was charged with performing an unmanned mission out to the Delta Pavonis star system. That mission became a key component of Project Eden whose ultimate goal was not known until the 2nd Interplanetary War.
