DESCRIPTION:

The mainstay of the LaGrange Space Forces, the Type-35/50 was built in 2135 by the combined might of the ESA (European Space Agency) project Earth-Moon Sphere L4 project that was started in 2133 by the French arm of ESA.  The EMS-L4 project was an ambitious endeavour that called for the creation of sixty Von Braun Type-1 class space stations (toroid type) which would oversee the capture of L4 Near Earth Objects and their transformation into mining bases to build eighteen one kilometer long, O'Neil type Cylinder space Colonies (completed by 2143).  As part of this massive undertaking, the Type-35 was constructed to act as an anti-asteroid patrol shuttle which could deflect (via its eight nuclear missiles) any large asteroids that might threaten the mining bases, Von Braun space stations, and/or the new O'Neil style colonies.  A total of 360 of these craft were built by the outbreak of the Great War in 2149.  The entire fleet of non-combat ships were converted to warships in 2150 after the Gaullist Socialists who controlled the LaGrange colonies declared their opposition to the Marxists of the 2nd UN and announced their support for the United States of North America, even though the USNA was a capitalist nation.
