Description/Overview:

             The SDDM-87 Kotetsu class was an anti-spacesub/stealth-ship version of the Meteor class of Landing Ship Tank.  With the bulk of the Saturn Space Defense Force fleet comprised of carriers and the heavy use of Protean fighters, a landing ship was no longer a necessity.  Therefore, the Meteor class was repurposed as a missile-destroyer with emphasis on anti-ship missiles (8 of them) that could be used against spacesubs/stealth-ships using sensor jamming suites and light-bending-shield arrays. The twin NADAR dishes of the Kotetsu class was to provide redundancy in the event one dish was damaged/destroyed.  A quartet of KAISER beam turrets meant the ship could be used against Prodono style starships effectively.  This class proved adequate during the final year of the Outer Sphere War, and the initial years of the 2nd Interplanetary War where spacesub type craft were used extensively.
