SPECIFICATIONS


           The core of the LaGrange L4 and L5 Republics are the twenty Type-3 O'Neil style Space Islands. Each of these mammoth structures are 52.5 kilometers long, and 38.6 kilometers in diameter (from furthest mirror tip to furthest mirror tip). Four huge, titanium polished mirror structures provide the primary power to the colony islands via sunlight. Secondary power consists of numerous fusion reactors located inside the spine of the structure. A wheel space station is built into the colony as an agricultural module. These O'Neil Space Islands are actually Stage 3 of a three phase space island colony construction model that starts off with a Bernal Sphere (seen as the sphere in the center of the "spokes" of the wheel), which was started in 2095 AD at each of the twenty Near Earth Object locations within L4 and L5 of the Earth-Moon Sphere. As the NEAs were mined out the second phase was started in 2135 and a Standford Torus space station was built with the Bernal Sphere at its center. This phase was completed in 2142 AD and work on the third and final phase was begun. Each of the twenty LaGrange Republic Space Islands were completed to O'Neil style cylinder colony status in 2155 AD after 60 years of construction. Each of the twenty Type-3 space islands houses nearly 1 million people and are geared almost entirely towards agricultural pursuits. The LaGrange Republics have Von Braun, Bernal Sphere, and smaller Standford Torus space stations that are used for industrial purposes to preserve the pristine atmospheres of the Type-3 space islands.
