Overview of the Tartarian Technocracy

Before Khazar made his decision to abandon the old "Space Cruiser" style of vessels in favor of his own version of the new "Cosmo Cruiser" concept, he had attempted to build his Alien Repulsor Fleet in the late 2170s. He had been monitoring the battles between the Solar Empire's "Ironclad" type warships with the fleet of Prodono Republic ships that Commander Alphonse Zhukov had acquired in the mid-2170s. Khazar had determined in the 2160s that the "Space Cruiser" designs of the Earth Federal Republic, his own LaGrange Republics, and the fleet of the United States Space Navy were too small, under-powered, under-gunned, and under-protected to be a viable means of protecting the Local Group of Stars around Sol from alien invasion. He knew that Terrans required a fleet of spacecraft capable of dealing with the Prodono Republic type ships. At the time (the 1st Interplanetary War) the Ceres Regency had been building a fleet of large warships. Charles Dalltan had funneled considerable resources from various Solar Empire projects to his "Flash Gordon" type fleet of massive warships. Two separate fleets were built by Charles during the 2150s and 2160s. However, when these fleets were used during the 1st Interplanetary War, they were found to be inadequate in dealing with the Prodono Republic type ships. Had the Prodono Republic ships been fitted with the deflector shield generators they were supposed to have, Zhukov would have crushed the Solar Empire's fleets easily. Therefore, starting in 2174, Khazar ordered--via the Council on Stellar Relations--his people on Luna to begin construction of a battlegroup of craft that were all stealth capable.
The LaGrange Republics forces had been working on a Light Bending Shield system that could be fitted to a spacecraft. The technology for invisibility had been developed in SPRITE suits in the 2130s, however, the technology required a specialized surface material that had very limited use as armor, and would not survive the rigors of outer space travel at sublight speeds. A different approach to the problem of stealth was pursued using graviton-warp fields around a spacecraft. The Solar Empire was also working on a similar system simultaneously, that system became the LBS units used by the Ceres Regency on their space-subs. However, Khazar wanted something more than just a stealth scout ship. He wanted a fleet of craft capable of using a Light Bending Shield system.
The initial experiments and prototypes built by LaGrange culminated in the creation of the Type-001 Stealth Scout Ship in 2179. Needless to say this craft was nothing like what Sovereign Grand Inspector General Khazar Rothschild wanted. He wanted warships. Massive ones. That could contend with the Prodono Republic fleets. Throughout the 2180s Khazars teams at Tyche used the latest advancements in technology from the Prodono wrecks they had recovered to construct a flotilla of stealth ships of considerable size and capability by end of the Ceres Conflict in 2186. This first flotilla was going to be put into production during the Outer Sphere War of 2186 to 2188, but Doctor Adrianne Donaldson's Cosmo Dragoon forces's Prodono Imperial warships changed his plans. In 2188 a stealth Protean Interceptor was created specifically for Khazar's stealth flotilla that had now grown into a full fledged fleet.
The Ross 47 conflict proved to Khazar that his stealth fleet would not fair well agaisnt the Imperial Prodono warships without the support of newer, more advanced and powerful conventional warships. By the time of the 2nd Interplanetary War, the stealth fleet was useful only in conjunction with the newer fleet of non-stealth warships that comprised the bulk of the Tartarian space navy. Khazar's original fleet of stealth warships were all lost at the Battle of Altair VII, the final battle of the 2nd Interplanetary War, when they were gated off to parts unknown with Dr. Donaldson's Cosmo Dragoons.
