Overview of the Tartarian Technocracy

          The discovery of Object L4-2135 by a Type-35 Patrol Shuttle of the fledgling LaGrange Space Colonies (who would eventually become the LaGrange Republics) just along the outer rim of the L4 colony project was a major shock to the infant space colonization board. News of the alien craft was kept completely secret for fifty-seven years after its discovery. The location of the alien ship bounced around from where it was first discovered adrift in space near space-island project L4-3 in the year 2135, to the main L4 secret weapons development labs of the LaGrange Republics in 2141 AD. From there the craft was taken to Juno in 2162 as part of the USSN-LaGrange joint research project to try and unravel the secrets of this enigma.
          The craft was mostly intact (63%), but had been hit amidships by a beam weapon that penetrated all the way through it; gutting the interior and destroying the vital systems within. Presumably causing whatever crew that survived to abandon her. The ship changed hands again in the early 2170s when the USSN joined with the Earth Federal Republic. From Juno it made its way out to Tyche (Sol's proto-brown dwarf binary star) and it remained there until 2245 AD.

          It wasn't until the Earth year 2235 AD that the alien object L4-2135 was identified by class type and unfortunately first hand experience. The mighty battleship of the Cendohnai Combine was the symbol of their internal security forces fleet. Essentially an ancient Prodono Federation Main Space Battleship, the Newel K'atVar was used by many of the old Prodono Empire provinces after the collapse of the Empire millennia ago. Most of these vessels were thousands of Earth years old, and came in a dizzying number of variants, upgrades, and modified versions. By Terran standards this craft was far beyond anything the Earth had produced (even by 2235 AD) and while the original derelict that was found spawned a few Terran designs to match it, the fact was that the weapons of the original alien craft found were completely obsolete by Prodono Republic standards. The old PHELAC (Phased High Energy Laser Amplified Compression) cannons were state of the art in the 22nd century, but no match for the MASER and Ion Blaster weapons of the Prodono Federation and Republic. The whole of Terran space technology was given a boost of nearly a 1000 years by the discovery of the first Newel K'atVar, even though that ship was thousands of years out of date by modern Prodono successor state standards.

          Sometime prior to outbreak of the 1st Interplanetary War the elite families of the LaGrange Republics formed an organization known as the Council on Stellar Relations (CSR) whose original purpose was to mediate a peace between the LaGrange Republics, their United States Space Navy allies and the UN Solar Empire of the 2160s. However, the discovery of the Prodono fleet at Alpha Centauri in the mid-2160s caused a major paradigm shift in the politics of the Sol system. The purpose of the CSR then changed inwardly even though they still maintained their diplomatic outward appearance. Throughout the entirety of the 1st Interplanetary War the CSR kept diplomatic relations with all powers involved in the conflict while also acquiring data on the Prodono alien ruins throughout the Sol system and surrounding star systems. Through their contacts, data collection, and various operatives in the various stellar nations of the Sol System, the CSR was able to acquire the coordinates of various Prodono shipyards, ruins, and other artifacts outside of Sol. This data was used to help the CSR begin a "Next Phase of Humanity" project at their secret base complex on Sol's proto-brown dwarf companion star Tyche. From this secret base--after the CSR moved the L4-2135 object from the USSN base Juno to Tyche--the CSR began its first phase of their "Next Phase of Humanity" plan by committing resources to deciphering the Prodono's actual language (the Prodono common language had been deciphered by Dr. Xiang a decade before). With breakthroughs in this research the CSR was able to communicate with representatives of the Prodono Alliance sleeper fleet. With the assistance of this sleeper force, and a clandestine group from the Stygian Project, the CSR formally transformed itself into the Tartarian Technocracy.
