Description/Overview:
After the EFSM forces had finished “Operation Aphrodite” (the invasion of Venus in August of 2175), the newly formed Jovian Defense Forces created a new company, SkyKing-GrandJäger, to build a new, more heavily armed and armored version of the MBR-01B for the Mars campaign. Due to the large number of MBR-01Bs in the JDF/EFSM’s inventory, the decision was made to use the existing MBR-01B design and modify the weapon systems to meet the requirements set forth by the mission parameters of the invasion of Mars.
The MBR-01B1 was almost identical to the MacDonald-Doogrim MBR-01B “Bombard” model. Only the armor plating and some of the weaponry were different.
SkyKing’s MBR-01B1 "Brute" did away with the Bophors AC-P105 planet type 105-millimeter autocannon and replaced it with an Apollo Research AR-105RC 105-millimeter rail cannon. This weapon became the main artillery piece used by the improved MBR-01B, and was identical to the weapon used on the MAT-48A3 and A4 models of mobile tanks. This weapon’s high rate of fire and ability to shoot in bursts made it the logical choice for the invasion of Mars as the JDF/EFSM intelligence indicated that the UN forces there relied heavily on hovertanks of the Type-55 variety and that a new assault MAT was put into service in 2175 AD.
The second new weapon system was one Norking SRM-03S (space type) missile launcher. This launcher was the same type used on the SBR-01 series of space battle robots and was very plentiful in the EFSM armories. Missiles for this launcher were abundant, and the new MBR-01B1 needed a missile weapon capable of speeds that could intercept aerospace fighters of the UNSC forces.
The third weapon system was an Orlakon/MMI AC-R20 20-millimeter autocannon mounted in a ball turret in the torso of the mecha. This ball turret was intended for use against light vehicles and ground troops, although in combat, many pilots used it as a proximal weapon against other mecha units.
Like the MBR-01B before it, the SkyKing-GrandJäger MBR-01B1 was used in squadrons of 20 units. However, unlike the MBR-01B, the “B1” was never used to complement mixed mecha type platoons. Very few of the MBR-01B1 type of main battle robots survived the 1st Interplanetary War. Those that made it to the end of the conflict wound up in the hands of the Jupiter Federal Colonies where they served as third-line defense units.
With the outbreak of hostilities within the inner sphere of the Sol System in 2183, the MBR-01B1 was called into service again, this time by the planetary militias of the Jovian Defense Forces. Like the MBR-01B, the MBR-01B1 was purely a ground combat unit and not intended for extended flight in zero-g even though it was quite useful on moons, planetoids, and asteroids.
The MBR-01B1 began production in late 2176 AD and was produced by the EFSM until 2177 AD; production began again in 2180 AD by the Jupiter Federal Colonies. The JFC produced the MBR-01B1 for their ground forces up until the introduction of the MBR-01J (another variant of the MBR-01B) in 2183 AD. A total of 75,000 units were built. The first 23,500 were constructed by the EFSM, while the remaining 51,500 were built by the JFC during the early 2180s. Very few of the original EFSM produced MBR-01B1s survived the 1st Interplanetary War. The majority of MBR-01B1s used during the Ceres conflict and 2nd Interplanetary War were built by the Jupiter Federal Colonies.

Description/Overview:
The idea behind the MBR-01C was to build a battle robot capable of replacing both the MBR-01 and the MBR-01As that were still in service with the EFSM forces in 2177 AD. The older MBR-01 type mecha within the EFSM had not fared well during the invasion of Mars in 2176 AD and were beginning to show their obsolescence. The MBR-01 and MBR-01A were no longer able to fulfill the role of mainline battle robots. Therefore, the EFSM turned to SkyKing-GrandJäger to develop an improved battle robot to replace the older mecha using as many available components as was possible. The main reason for this was the fact that the EFSM lacked the time to develop and produce a new line of MBR. Therefore, a new MBR-01 variant was deemed a suitable stop-gap measure.
The MBR-01C was the logical outcome of the requirements set forth by the EFSM during their darkest hour of the 1st Interplanetary War. This machine was built in large quantities at the Io and Europa Jovian factories that the EFSM controlled during the later half of the conflict.
The MBR-01C used the same walker engine, rocket engines, reactor, computer, and life-support system as the MBR-01 and MBR-01A. The major differences were in the armor of the MBR-01C and the weapon systems.
The MBR-01C used a newly developed General Dynamic/MMI M61A4-GP1 20-millimeter six-barrel Gatling autocannon weapon-pod mounted on its right-shoulder as its primary weapon. This weapon system was vastly superior to the M230-AC-GP 30-millimeter gunpod, and AC-R20-04 20-millimeter four-barrel Gatling cannon, that were the standard issue of most battle robots of the time.
The MBR-01C was also designed to use one of the newly developed Norking SRML-100-16HG heavy ground type short-range missile pods. These missile pods fired the MMI SRM-02 100-pound missile, which could act as both artillery and indirect fire support. These missile pods weighed 3 tons and could be mounted on either shoulder, or two could be mounted on the MBR-01C, one on each shoulder.
Four standard MMI SRM-01-G ground type triple-shot missile launchers were mounted on the mecha (one each arm, one each hip).  This gave the MBR-01C Cherubim considerably firepower for a standard MBR-01 type machine.  In addition to these missile launchers a hand-held Norking RCR-35, 35-millimeter rifle gunpod was added to the MBR-01C, making it second to only the HBR series in terms of raw firepower.
The only integral weapon systems of the MBR-01C were a pair of Orlakon/MMI AC-R20 20-millimeter ball turrets. One turret was mounted on each side of the torso of the battle robot. These turrets were used against small ground targets and missiles.
Like the MBR-01 and MBR-01A, the MBR-01C was used solely for ground combat and was not designed for zero-g flight. The MBR-01C served in nearly all of the military forces of the colonies of the outer sphere of the Sol System from the early 2080s all the way up until the 2100s as the main ground combat unit. The total number of MBR-01Cs built between 2077 and 2100 was 144,000 units; with 55,000 being built by the EFSM at Jupiter during the 1st Interplanetary War, and 89,000 constructed by the Jupiter Federal Colonies for the Outer Colonies after the war ended.
