CARGO BAY:

HANGAR BAYS:
         2x 1,154,250,000 yd3; Each bay holds up to 80 Nevada, 40 Alaska, 20 Warspite, 4 Lord Nelson and up to 854,230,000 cubic yards of additional craft or equipment (though this would pack the bay tight and not allow for the ships to maneuver.  Normally this internal volume remains clear unless the station is moving to a new location.  Then it can be stuffed full for the move). These bays were normally used for repair of spacecraft. In addition each bay may have 1,425,000 yd3 of space dedicated to 500 HSF-01 space fighters or PI-02 Protean Interceptors for defense of the space station (1000 total).  It also normally has shuttles and construction craft (small, usually less than 1000 tons) moving about.

DESCRIPTION:
            The MSS-01 was the first large-scale spacestation built by men of Earth. The MSS-01 design was actually taken from the NoWhere spacestation that was constructed some twelve thousand miles from the planetoid Pallas by the Earth Federal Space Marines after the infamous “Operation Athena” debacle. The NoWhere spacestation was constructed in order to repair the EFSM stranded fleet of class troopships and upgrade the entire EFSM SpaceNavy. The MSS-01 was nearly an exact copy of the NoWhere spacestation shipyard. The MSS-01 type of main spacestations was used throughout the 1st Interplanetary War. They were a vital part of the Jovian SpaceNavy’s control of the outer sphere through much of the Interplanetary Era.
            The MSS-01 series of spacestations were fitted with six-thousand Macrotechnologies 5000-megawatt fusion reactors that provided power for the entire station. The station was fitted with one lareg EMD drive for propulsion and could be anchored to a fixed position in space via its antigravity system.
            The station was armed with sixty Lunar Dynamics LD-PC-600 dual 300-megawatt PHELAC turrets. These weapons provided both anti-mecha and anti-capital ship defense of the station. The primary anti-capital ship weapons were one-hundred and twenty Republic Arms RA-STL-02A1 space torpedo tubes. These torpedo launchers fired the MST-01M 1000-pound computer-guided, medium-range space torpedoes.
            The defense systems of the MSS-01 were six Nippon Military Industries NMI-12K 12,000-megawatt deflector field generators. These deflectors were adequate during the 1st Interplanetary War.
            Numerous MSS-01/Nowhere class spacestations were built around Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune, and much of the space in between. These spacestations acted as “islands” for interplanetary craft (both civilian and military) to travel throughout the outer sphere of the Sol System during the last few decades of the 22nd century and the first few decades of the 23rd before faster-than-light drives become commonplace.
            The MSS-01 remained in service up until 2188 AD when the MSS-02 was introduced after the Outer Sphere War. All existing MSS-01s were converted to MSS-02s by 2189 AD.
