Description/Overview:
         The SBB-01 was the largest space battleship built during the 1st Interplanetary War.  At 50,000 tons liquid-hydrogen displacement this craft was larger than the Ceres Regency Bismarck class space battleship, but was not as heavily armed as that warship. Emphasis was placed on survivability rather than just offensive capability.  In this way, the SBB-01 was inferior to the Bismarck, which had far greater firepower than this space battleship in terms of both mounted and mobile weaponry.  The SBB-01 was initially designed by Lady Furrier’s special research and development team at Vesta to act as an anti-alien warship capable of taking on the small- and medium-sized Prodono spacecraft.  However, Dalltan’s sycophants altered the design plans to exclude the UNSC-designed energy-efficient EMD drives that the ship was originally intended to have, thus greatly restricting the speed and maneuverability of the vessel while making the power consumption of the SBB-01 enormously inefficient.  Without the luxury of having the time to be able to redesign the SBB-01 to use plasma or EMD engines, Zhukov’s engineers were forced to build the ship off the plans they had.  The design suffered because of the intentional alterations Dalltan’s people included in the plans.  This class was used as the flagship of all of the USR space fleets built during the 1st Interplanetary War.
         The faster-than-light drive of the SBB-01 was one Prodotech SWD-19K 9000-megawatt stellar warp drive. This made the SBB-01 the first craft to use only one stellar warp drive engine instead of a tandem arrangement.  This engine propelled the craft at .152 light years per hour and was very efficient in the “Single-Alpha Graviton Dispersal” configuration of the SWD.
         The sublight engines of the SBB-01 were two Eurospace ES-ID-75K 75,000-megawatt ion drives.  Each of these drives was able to propel the craft at 114,000 mph/Mach 150: giving the SBB-01 a total speed of 228,000 mph/Mach 300.
         The power consumed by the SBB-01 was high for a ship of even its size.  One Gaea Energy GEFR-250K 250,000-megawatt fusion reactor was required to feed the energy needs of this vessel.  This was due almost entirely to the ion engines of the ship, which consumed nearly half of the reactor’s power output.  While this was a drawback of the vessel, it did, in fact, prove the upper limits (in terms of ship displacement) of the high yield ion engines.
         The main turret weapons of the SBB-01 consisted of four Gaea Guns GG-PC-5003 triple 500-megawatt PHELACs.  These turrets were the main tactical anti-starship weapons of the SBB-01 and were able to deliver a devastatingly powerful triple blast that could knock out the deflector fields of any warship of its day.  A salvo of all four cannons at one target could cripple or destroy all but the largest of man-made warships of the 1st Interplanetary War.
         The secondary anti-starship weapons consisted of ten Proxima Arms PA-STL-800 short-range space torpedo launchers.  These torpedo launchers carried a wide variety of warheads, from fragmentation to nuclear.  However, their use was primarily in close-quarters combat with enemy ships.
         The SBB-01 was also fitted with one Centauri Research CR-EMPAC-30K 30,000-megawatt heavy electromagnetic particle accelerator cannon.  This cannon was normally fired only once per minute to allow the heated electromagnetic coils to cool down.  The safety on the weapon’s clutch could be overridden to fire the cannon once every 10 seconds.  However, this would cause severe heat damage to the weapon if done excessively.  A direct hit from this cannon could destroy a Bismarck class battleship or smaller warship with one shot.  However, against the rebuilt alien battleship, the Posse Comitatus, this cannon would do only moderate damage to its energy-resistant armor.
         The SBB-01 space battleship had six Centauri Research CR-DF-4000 deflector field generators mounted on it.  These generators were able to absorb up to 200,000 gigajoules of damage each, which gave the SBB-01 a great advantage over other warships of its time.  Unfortunately for the USR, the SBB-01 was not very maneuverable.
         All sixty of the first known production models were either destroyed during the 1st Interplanetary War or refit shortly thereafter to the Proxima class of space battleship.
