DESCRIPTION:
            The Byzantine class refit, or Byzantine-II, was nearly identical to the original class of ship.  The primary differences were the FTL warp nacelles, PHELAC cannons, and improved fusion reactors and deflector field generators.  Other than that the class was the same as the original ship.  The exosuit complement was removed from the second model, and the main hangar became little more than a large scale cargo bay.  The USR, did in fact use Byzantine-II class ships as armed interstellar freighters throughout the Ceres conflict, Outer Sphere war, and 2nd Interplanetary War periods.  Large numbers of these craft were constructed throughout USR space during the late 2170s, 2180s and early 2190s.
