Description/Overview:
         The USSN team working with UNSC conspirators first conceived of the KW-01 or KosmoWalküre type one in 2064 AD as a blitzkrieg weapon for the new spacenavy that this rebels envisioned.  The USSN group intended the KW-01 to be a space bomber that launched from bases within the asteroid belt after which they would accelerate to sublight speeds, via an electromagnetic drive system, to the inner sphere planets and planetoids controlled by the UN Solar Empire.  The space bombers would then drop planetary bombs from high-orbit and flee back to the safety of the asteroid belt using the electromagnetic drive system that was under development by the USSN on Juno.  However, two factors prevented the space bomber concept from emerging during the 2060s.  First, the leaders of the conspiracy deemed the USSN electromagnetic drive system obsolete due to the development of the intersection drive, and the second was the encounter with the EFR on Earth. The conspirators' whole plan had to shift in a new direction in order to compensate for the EFR joining the political arena.  This meant that the space bomber of the USSN team's vision would never come into being.  However, conspirators' grand armada still needed a spacefighter, and the KW-01 design that the USSSN group created was easily downsized to a spacefighter and modified to fulfill the role of a first-strike spacecraft.
         Thus, the KosmoWalküre was redesigned into a scaled-down version of itself.  The idea of a fighter capable of launching a sneak attack against an enemy in a blitzkrieg-style attack intrigued the Regency conspiracy's leadership.  Their grand scheme would eventually need such a vehicle.  Thus the leaders of the conspiracy gave their seal of approval to the new machine and had it built on Hygiea under the watchful eye of that base's commander.
         After the outbreak of the 1st Interplanetary War, the Regency conspirators stored thousands of these fighters within the Second Object in the asteroid belt until the time would come when he would need them.
         The KW-01 was fitted with a Pallas Research PR-1.5 1.5-megawatt type-2 intersection drive.  This FTL drive was specially built for the KW-01, making this spacefighter the first ever starfighter built by mankind.  The PR-1.5 allowed the KW-01 to deploy from any point in the Sol star-system to any target.  This intersection drive was able to propel the craft at .12 light years per hour (703,883,520,000 miles per hour), giving the starfighter unprecedented speed and range for a ship so small.
         The sublight engines of the KW-01 were a pair of Hygiea Factory #3 IE-7.5 7.5-megawatt high yield ion engines. These engines were able to propel the vessel at speeds of 38,000 mph individually or 76,000 mph for both engines combined. These engines were perfect for dogfighting in space and within the atmosphere of a planet.
         The weapons of the new spacefighter were standard Ceres type weaponry.  A pair of Mawzer MRC-401 40-millimeter rail cannons was mounted on the forward end of the KW-01.  These cannons were identical to the ones used as palm-guns on the JägerWeirMech-02.  These cannons were used for strafing enemy ships and self-defense against other fighters.
         The main anti-warship weapons of the KW-01 were a pair of standard four-shot Watzler SRML-54 short-range missile launchers.  These short-range weapons were the same as those used on the PanzerWeirMech-01.  The only difference between these launchers and those used on the heavy battlerobot was the warhead of the missiles and the payload.  These launchers carried only eight missiles each. However, all eight of those missiles were armed with nuclear warheads.  This gave the KW-01 a very powerful punch for such a small fighter.  These launchers allowed the KW-01 to destroy nearly any type of battlerobot, spacefighter, or escort ship with impunity.  Capital ships were outside the capability of any lone KW-01, but in a flight of ten to twenty, these starfighters could cripple even the largest warships.
         Initially, the KW-01 was intended to mount nuclear dampeners; however, the conspiracy leadership was not impressed with the performance of the USSN defense system and chose instead to have the new fighter mount a UN type electrostatic field generator.  Even though this type of system was considered obsolete by the standards of warfare of the 1st Interplanetary War, the electrostatic system was adequate for the mission of KW-01.  The KosmoWalküre used one Ceres Factory #44 7.5-megawatt electrostatic armor generator. 
         Although the bulk of KosmoWalküre spacefighters were constructed during the 2068-2075 period, the Regency leaders chose not to employ these fighters in large numbers during the 1st Interplanetary War.  Instead, these starfighters were used as surgical strike units that could fly into an area and attack a target, then use their FTL engines to escape as quickly as possible to avoid detection.  Ceres used this type of hit-and-run attack during “Operation Lonely Soldier” in which Ceres actually assisted the Earth Federal Space Navy in this mission to destroy the UN Solar Empire shipping between Mars and Venus.
         After the 1st Interplanetary War was over, the KW-01 was assigned to full-time active duty on all Ceres warships and planetary bases.  This starfighter would prove to be an integral part of the next phase of overal plan of the Ceres Regency.
